    Countdown to 48th West Indies Baptist Fellowship Conference begins
    Scores of regional delegates confirm attendance

    ~~Adz:Left~~ CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - HUNDREDS of delegates from within the region have confirmed their attendance at the 48th West Indies Baptist Fellowship Conference scheduled to be held in Nevis on January 19 to January 23, 2009.

     

    Host Pastors have confirmed that they expect between 250-300 delegates and noted that Nevis last hosted the conference in 1985. 

     

    The venue of the Conference will be the Shiloh Baptist Church new sanctuary in Ramsbury. Outstanding Christian leaders drawn from Baptist churches in the region will facilitate the Conference which is being held under the theme: “Running the Christian Race.”

     

    Host Pastors of the Conference’s are Allinison Da Costa of the Calvary Baptist Church, Eric Maynard of the Shiloh Baptist Church, and Oral Brandy of the First Baptist Church.  The three Pastors and members of their congregations have been working round the clock to ensure that the delegates will be comfortable while on Nevis.

     

    The host Pastors have also confirmed that the necessary logistics have been put in place. 

     

    An opening ceremony will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry is scheduled to address the gathering.

     

    In his pre-conference welcome message to the delegates, Parry said, “I am pleased that you have chosen our beautiful island, the Queen of the Caribees, as host to the 48th West Indies Baptist Fellowship Conference. Nevis is pleased to be your host.”

     

    The Conference’s programme highlights heritage sites that delegates can visit while in Nevis, and among them are Alexander Hamilton House, Horatio Nelson Museum, The Bath Hotel, Bath Stream and Spring House, Jewish Cemetery, Fort Ashby, Saddle Hill Fortress, St. Thomas Church, St. James Anglican Church, Montpelier Estate, and Montravers Estate

     

    Baptist churches which subscribe to the West Indies Baptist Fellowship Conference are located in St. John, St. Thomas, Tortola (BVI), Anguilla, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Croix, Nevis, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua, Dominica, Anguilla, Antigua, St. Eustatius, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Trinidad, St. Kitts, Nassau, Bahamas, Curacao (NA), Ft. Lauderdale (Florida, USA), and Jamaica.
