BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN elderly male Frigate Bay resident is hospitalised after he was beaten with a firearm and robbed while in the comfort of his home.

A police press release issued today (Jan.8) informs that a report was made at the Basseterre Police Station concerning the incident which involved a 68-year-old resident of Fort Tyson Rise, Frigate Bay.

The press release further informs that following investigations, it was revealed that at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, three masked men entered the man’s home and “attacked him”.  The extent of the attack, as noted in the release, is that he was beaten with the butt of a pistol and was also robbed of an undisclosed sum of money before the criminals made good their escape.

“He sustained head and facial injuries and was taken to the JNF (General) Hospital where he was detained,” the press release informed.

An individual is said to be in custody assisting the authorities with their investigations into the matter.  ~~Adz:Right~~

Meanwhile, investigations are also being made into a traffic accident which left a pedestrian nursing head injuries.

Police said the incident took place at about 4:25 yesterday (Jan. 7) afternoon at Verchild’s on the Island’s Main Road.

“Investigations reveal that motor jeep P3232, which was driven by Terrence Wyatt of Sandy Point, was travelling from Sandy Point to Basseterre’s direction when there was a collision with a pedestrian, Sydney Gumbs of England but who resides at Lamberts, as he was crossing the road.”

Gumbs was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he was treated and detained.

The police have informed that investigations into the incident are underway and their Public Relations Officer (PRO), Inspector Cromwell Henry, told SKNVibes that Wyatt has already been served with a “notice of intended prosecution for careless driving”.
