BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DOCTORS at the JNF General Hospital are currently operating on a young man who was this morning (Oct. 18) shot outside his home in the New Road Housing Project area.
On arrival at the scene, SKNVibes had observed a pool of blood on the roadway in front of the home of the victim, whose name was given as Royden Peetes Jr., also known as 'Junie' and 'Junior'.
According to sources, the incident occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. and the unidentified assailant had shot Peetes behind his right ear and the right thigh.
The assailant, who was said to be dressed in camouflage, was seen running towards a Ghaut on the western side of the cul-de-sac in his bid to flee the scene.
It was learnt that the shooting victim was taken to the hospital in a privately-owned vehicle.
Officers of the Crime Scene Unit and a member of the Criminal Investigation Department were seen processing the scene and conducting investigations respectively.
Efforts to contact the police spokesperson for a comment were futile. However, more on this incident as information becomes available.
Peetes has been the third person to have been shot in the twin-island Federation over a six-day period.
The first was Chezyown Herbert of Cabbage Tree, Upper Cayon, who, at about 10:50 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 13), was shot at by two masked men, which resulted in a bullet grazing one of his thighs.
And the second victim was Roy Wilkinson of St. Kitts, who was shot whilst riding his motorcycle in the Cades Bay area in Nevis shortly before 6:00 p.m. on the following day.
Investigations into these incidents are also ongoing.
