BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Twelve local winners of the LIME Christmas promotion saw their million-dollar dreams go up in smoke Friday night (Dec. 9) when the grand prize went to Lucille Worrell of Dominica.

In St. Kitts, over one hundred LIME subscribers gathered around the big screen at the company’s grounds as the entire region witnessed the live draw making Worrell the Caribbean’s newest millionaire. When contacted by LIME CEO Richard Dodd, Worrell could only scream the word LIME repeatedly. She was entered in the draw after she paid her fixed line bill in full and on time and beat almost 300 other regional weekly winners.

LIME VP of Corporate Communications Laverne Caines told SKNVibes that although she was very hopeful that a local would have walked away with the grand prize, she was happy for Worrell being the ultimate LIME Caribbean winner, taking home US $1 million.

“There will always be another time. Nonetheless, I am so happy that the person in Dominica won. As we all know, although the economic situation in the region is generally low, in Dominica it is a little worse than all the other OECS territories.

“With US $1 million someone’s entire life can be changed. The winner should look into investing the money and ensure that she gets some return on her investment. With the economic hardships affecting the world, this is great time to turn around someone’s life with this grand prize.

“Based on the feedback from the customers, I think we would rather cut it up in smaller chunks to make a lot more people happy. It is good to make one person a millionaire but in the current economic situation, I think we would have had a couple more hundred people smiling if we had given them even US $10,000. We are certainly going to review all the comments we have received from our customers and once we would have gotten those, they should guide the way we go about the next big promotion.”

VP Caines informed that customers can look forward to more big promotions from LIME, and noted that “whenever we do things to excite our customers, they also excite us internally. It has been a lot of work and LIME has once again been able to impact the lives of many!”
