Police investigate apparent suicide of schoolgirl

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - MEMBERS of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force are currently investigating the apparent suicide of a teenage girl which occurred this morning (Oct. 22). 

     

    The teenager was discovered dead in the bathroom of her father’s home at Martin Luther King Street in Shadwell Housing sometime before 7:00 a.m.

    SKNVibes spoke with Police Press and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Inspector Lyndon David who confirmed the incident.

    The 15-year-old was identified as Azaria Hanley, a student of the Washington Archibald High School.

    Unconfirmed reports state that the teenager went into the bathroom and locked the door. An alarm was raised after some time had passed and there was no audible activity within the bathroom which she had not exited.

    David noted that the teenager’s father had found her hanging in the bathroom.

    The PRO said that a post mortem would be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
