Basseterre, St.Kitts (Team UNITY Communications):- Jonel Powell, Team UNITY candidate for Constituency 2, Central Basseterre, says the Legal Aid Clinic he organized in his Constituency Office yesterday October 24, 2013 was indeed a great success.
The dynamic young lawyer said that it was the first of several clinics he has planned for his constituents to be able to get meaningful help as part of his goal of providing and facilitating meaningful assistance, bringing proper representation and a new brand of politics to the people of Central Basseterre .
He said " The matters brought to the lawyers who were there to give free advice were in several really diverse areas. The persons felt comfortable and were afforded private advice. Those persons who took the opportunity to come and seek advice claimed to have benefited greatly and were appreciative of the clinic and the assistance of the team of lawyers who were present."
He went on to thank all the lawyers that gave freely of their time and expertise. The dynamic Powell also expressed delight at a gesture of one of his Constituents who surprised him and those present at the afternoons activity by providing refreshments for all who were present at the clinic.
Powell said "It shows that the Central Basseterre community is concerned in seeing a better Central Basseterre, and with the proper representation that I am offering, I know that we can see a greatly improved Constituency. A more empowered people, prepared to make use of opportunities that a UNITY Government can offer. It is obvious that the people of Central Basseterre are yearning for real representation and the new brand of politics that I bring."
Powell and his team have indicated that a number of clinics have been planned for the upcoming weeks. They also declared that other activities geared toward uplifting the constituents of Central Basseterre will be organized and announced shortly.
“There is definitely a need for a number of developmental programmes and assistance that the constituency and the constituents are in much need of and I do not not intend to wait until I am elected to initiate and implement these programmes and activities that are necessary for the overall development of this constituency, in particular the youths of Central who have expressed their concerns regarding their own development, the development of their community and the lack of jobs and opportunity all of which I intend to help tackle through a number of activities and programmes which I will pursue even before getting elected.”
Powell’s Legal Aid Clinic is one element of a comprehensive programme which candidate Powell has proposed for his constituency and to bring better service and support to the constituents. Many of the constituents feel neglected by their representative and government.
Team Unity has outlined a prosperity agenda for all people. That agenda is geared at repairing the social and economic fabric of the country, setting the country to work for the benefit of all. In keeping with this agenda, Mr. Powell assures his constituents that better days are coming.
