Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 14th- St. Kitts and Nevis tourism industry is set to receive superior training at a leading institute. Nine persons selected for a work study and job attachment program left the island yesterday.
The Program funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the School of Hotel Management in the Dominican Republic, will be facilitated by the American Hospitality Academy (AHA), one of the leading hospitality institutes, known for its international cultural exchange and practical training in the areas of Food Services, Room Division, Resort Activities, Culinary and Hospitality Administration. Simultaneously, The AHA focuses its programming on cultural diversity and breaking down stereotypes, which are pivotal for understanding and working in the Hospitality industry.
While there, the participants representing the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC), St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Nevis Tourism Authority and the Tourism Industry at large, will engage in formal training along with practical training at various prestigious hotels in the Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head areas of South Carolina. These areas are well known vacation spots, receiving over 26 million US and international visitors per year.
When asked how she felt about the internship, Receptionist at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Ms. Shameda Pemberton responded, It is an excellent program that will provide the opportunity for me to learn new skills and share various cultural aspects with the other participants.
