BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN honour and aid of Errol ‘De King Arrow’ Dolphin, a Benefit Concert will be held in St. Maarten this weekend with some of the Caribbean’s top calypsonians scheduled to lend their voices to the worthy cause.

Organised by the De King Arrow Foundation with assistance from a number of individuals within the Federation, the concert is slated to take place at Celebration Palace from 8:00 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 2) to 2:00 the following morning.

The show is dubbed ‘From My Three Homes’ and, according to a release issued to this publication, the theme centers “the fact that De King Arrow was born in Trinidad, grew up in St. Kitts and lives for most of his life in St. Maarten. As such, artistes from these three homes of De King have gotten together to headline a benefit concert for De King Arrow”.

Controller, King Socrates, King Phonsie, Lord Kut and King Meeko of St. Kitts and Nevis would be travelling to St. Maarten to participate in the event. They would be backed by the Grand Masters Band.

And from Trinidad, Singing Francine will lend her expertise.

St. Maarten’s artistes are De King Stunky, King Beau Beau, The Mighty Dow, King Jacko, Singing Acquilla and the Kaiso Brat.

De King Arrow has been residing in St. Maarten for a number of years and in mid-last year he suffered a heart attack at which point he was admitted to a medical institution for treatment. Since then, SKNVibes understands that the veteran calypsonian has experienced a number of health challenges.

And according to information received by this publication, the proceeds of the concert are to assist with medical expenses.

“De King is still recovering as a result of his health challenges. The expenses related to his therapy and care-taking are quite high and as such this fundraising event is intended to be able to offset some of these expenses currently being incurred.”

King Meeko was asked about his thoughts and feelings on the idea of a benefit concert for De King Arrow, and in addition to giving his seal of approval issued a word of encouragement for individuals to support the cause.

“It’s a good gesture to help De King Arrow…He really was a good man. He worked with all of us and I'm really happy that I can make a contribution. As usual, I try to be electrifying and will go there and do my thing and I expect people will come out to the show.

My part will be usual Meeko and I will represent Nevis. I invite everyone to come out and support the event. It’s going to be a good show! We will be having a ball and I hope many people turn up to help a brother who really needs it.

A US$10 entrance fee would be required for persons wishing to attend the event.
