BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ONE of the Federation’s top footballers, Atiba Harris, is recapping on his 2013 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, which he described as a success.
Last week Harris and the Colorado Rapid were eliminated from the MLS Playoffs by the Seattle Sounders, but he has claimed that from a personal standpoint his season has been a success.
“From a personal standpoint, I think my season was a success. I was able to achieve my goal of staying healthy and contributing.”
Harris however added that as the season progressed his playing form waned but he is confident in his own ability.
“I started off the season well and scored a few goals then things started to change. My playing time wasn't consistent after that so the goals faded towards the end, but I'm still pretty confident in my ability to perform wherever I go.”
He also recollected on his most memorable moment from this past season.
“Getting my first goal of the season right after my second daughter was born was a memorable moment for me.”
Harris also discussed his future.
“As a footballer, you never know what the future holds! God has a plan for all of us and I'm taking it day by day. This is the end of the season for me and I will hopefully sit down with the coaches and discuss my season with them.”
He also claimed that he has been getting some interest from Denmark as the MLS holds the options for his contract in 2014.
“I've had some interest in Denmark earlier this year and it seems like that interest is picking up again along with a few other opportunities. So we'll see what happens. MLS holds my last option year of my contract for 2014.”
Harris completed the season with five goals.
On December 4, Harris was traded from the Vancouver Whitecaps, where he played for the previous two years, to the Colorado Rapids.
Colorado acquired Harris from Vancouver for an international roster spot. The Whitecaps will be the fifth club for the 28-year-old St. Kitts and Nevis international player.
Harris, is a seven-year veteran of MLS, having scored 22 goals and added 20 assists in 167 matches with five different clubs, and captained St. Kitts and Nevis in the qualifying phase of the 2012 Caribbean Cup.
