BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TESSANNE CHIN was among last night’s ( Nov.7) announced top 12 aspiring artistes voted for by the public in the USA and those in other eligible territories.
The results, which was announced during the live televised show aired on NBC, came following Monday night’s (Nov. 4) Live Show performances.
From among the top 20 artistes, two singers from each of the four teams which had five contestants each, two were sent home, one saved by their respective coach and the others, including Tessanne Chin, were saved by votes.
The Jamaican songstress, during the Live Show leg of the competition, delivered a powerful rendition of ‘Many Rivers to Cross’ by living Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff.
Speaking on camera after her performance, the former Jimmy Cliff’s backup singer spoke warmly on how it felt to have performed solo and noted that it was “incredible”.
Following the Live Show, the American public was asked to vote for their favourite contestants.
The Voice is slated to continue on Tuesday night (Nov. 11) as the competitors get closer to the lump sum cash prize and a recording contract.
Tessanne Chin made her debut performance at the annual St. Kitts Music Festival in 2007.
She was slated to return this year after the initial line-up was publicised. However, she was replaced by well-known Jamaican Reggae and Dancehall artiste Christopher Martin due to schedule conflict.
Many people are familiar with Tessanne Chin’s music, which include popular songs such as ‘Hide Away’, ‘Broken Melody’, ‘Messenger’ and ‘Never Let Me Go’ featuring Shaggy.
Tuesday night’s episode, for viewers in St. Kitts-Nevis, begins at 9:00 p.m. since the US has its usual daylight saving time frame, which is an hour behind.
