Antigua, November 13, 2013 -- A small delegation left Antigua over the weekend to participate in a Regional Security System (RSS) Staff and Command Course being held in St. Lucia.
Captain Telbert Benjamin of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) is the Academic Director for the Course, while Inspector Atlee Rodney of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is a first time facilitator.
They were joined by four other Antiguans who will be enrolled in the course which runs from November 4 to 30, 2013. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Muncy Duncan from the Fire Department, Mrs. Garilyn Reis from the Immigration Department, Ms. Morjave Michael from the Customers Department and Lt. Bernstelle Geroge from the ABDF have all joined their colleagues from across the region to participate in the course.
The Staff and Command Course is being run by the RSS Training Institute and sponsored by the Government of Canada through the Canadian High Commission in Barbados.
The course is geared towards the development of leadership throughout the security forces in the sub-region. Areas of human rights and humanitarian law, command and control, emergency management and communications as well as service writing and strategic planning will all be covered during the month long course.
