He told the five contestants, Ms. National Bank, Jadee Caines, Ms. Berger Paints, Claudia Liburd, Ms Development Bank, Charmaine Budgeon, Ms, Carib Breweries, Jamilla Parris and Ms. UTS Globe, Asha Jones that the person who is adjudged to be the best, will received a special prize sponsored by the government.
Im not aware of what it is but it goes on from year to year and that would be communicated to you. We want to showcase our people in the best light and we feel that one of the best things we can do for them is to give them something&.. some sort of sponsorship/scholarship in some area of their profession, he said.
The Nevisian Leader encouraged the contestants to be the best they can and observed that he not only saw joviality among them but the wonderful job the chairperson was doing so far was evident.
I can see that she (the chairperson) has made you feel at ease. She is doing her very best to make sure that you enjoy this competition, the pageantry.

While paying the courtesy call on the Premier at his office, the contestants briefly described themselves to him and took the opportunity to remind him of the upcoming events for the competition.
Chairperson of the Queen Show Committee, Mrs. Judy Rawlins who escorted the contestants told the Premier that she has a group of lovely, intelligent young ladies with whom she has had the pleasure working with.
She also noted that not only have they been learning the ropes of the competition, but they have also been doing things differently from the past years of Culturama.
We occasionally take them out to have some fun, we had a dinner at the Nisbett Plantation Beach Club and all in all they are having a great time. They are all friends and Im glad for that, said Mrs. Rawlins. |
