St. Thomas, USVI- VI Police are still attempting to identify a body found last Wednesday (Jan. 14) in a cistern on an Estate Thomas property.

Although unsubstantiated reports indicated that the body was that of a young female and that there was a bullet hole was visible in the skull, Police Chief Rodney Querrard said police were able to confirm that the remains were human, but could ascertain whether foul play was the cause of death.

He said that at the time no gender, age or ethnicity had been determined due to the level of decomposition.

He informed that late Wednesday afternoon police responded to a report of a foul stench emanating from a vacant property across the street from Schneider Hospital. A search of the premises lead to the discovery of the body which police estimate had been deceased for over a week.

Querrard asked that anyone with family, friends or neighbours missing contact police or 911 and informed that police would be looking into missing persons report in an attempt to identify the corpse.

SKNVibes contacted the VI Police Department and was told that an autopsy had been completed but that the identity of the body had not been determined.
