Basseterre, St.Kitts (Team UNITY Communications) -- Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, Leader of Team Unity is asking the illegitimate Douglas regime to come clean over the deals involving the Citizenship by Investment Programme. Dr Harris said increasingly the international community is becoming concerned over the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Programme. These concerns relate to the transparency of the programme, issues of due diligence and participants of dubious characters becoming citizens under the programme.
Dr Harris said pressure from the American and Canadian governments has forced the illegitimate Prime Minister to announce a suspension of the Citizenship by Investment Programme to citizens of Iran and Afghanistan – 2 countries regarded as terrorist states. Dr Harris said he has reason to believe that since that reported suspension, the government issued passports to citizens of Iran and Afghanistan.
According to Unity Leader, our citizens will suffer consequences as a result of Dr. Douglas reckless approach to government and the mismanagement of the Citizenship by Investment Programme. Our visa free status for entry into Canada may be stopped and we will find it harder to get visas from the United States of America.
Several years ago, Canada brought an end to visa free entry into Canada for Grenadians over dissatisfaction with the citizenship by investment programme of Grenada.
Unity Leader said, Dr Douglas having bankrupted our country, is making the sale of our passports a new industry. The country is obviously concerned about the corrupting influence of a leader who will do anything to maintain his illegal and unconstitutional hold on power.
Dr Douglas has bankrupted our country. He has subverted the independence of Parliament and made it a mockery. He has attacked the judiciary and now he is making a mockery of our citizenship with the reckless sale of our passports. All who are involved must take note that there is considerable reputational damage being done to our country. The government is illegitimate and operating without constitutional basis. No serious investor will do business with an illegitimate government.
Our citizens must not allow Douglas to corrupt every programme in the country.
