BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TODAY (Jan. 20) marks the inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama, and LIME St. Kitts is celebrating the event in grand style at its Cayon Street flagship store.
From around 10 a.m. many LIME customers and curious on-lookers flooded the store to enjoy the light entertainment before the live streaming of the inauguration. The gathering enjoyed musical performances by Royd Phipps, Nigel Williams and Melvin Hewlett who set the tone for the historic event while Creighton Pencheon and Vester Southwell rendered poems retracing Obama’s journey to presidency.
The short programme was carried live on SKNVibes’ PEP Radio with one of the region’s favourite DJ’s Sugar Bowl, for those not able to attend the celebration at the telecoms store.
In speaking to SKNVibes, VP Terrence Crossman informed that the celebration was one way in which LIME chose to share the history-making event with all its interested subscribers.
“At LIME, we decided that we really wanted to let our customers know how much we, like them, want to share in the celebration of the official inauguration of America’s first African-American President. We thought that this is the best way to share with our customers... presentation... we just want people to come and enjoy themselves so that we can together witness Obama’s ascendance to presidency.
“We are extremely happy to be a part of the whole change process and we recognize that Obama ran on a platform of change and we at LIME recognized that we needed to change as well. We made a strategic decision to change from Cable and Wireless which we thought was a bit stiff and out of touch for our customers and now we are LIME which is actually an acronym for what we do.”
Crossman added that the telecommunication company wanted to create a different environment for its clients as it has already transformed the store and offer “additional changes which have already been benefiting from them”.
Crossman informed that customers can look forward to “some big things happening with LIME around Valentine’s Day. We have some major promotions and we will definitely be coming with something big!”
