St. Paul’s man charged for escaping custody, larceny

    Two fined $2 800; one on Bond in Nevis

     

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE on St. Kitts have arrested and charged a male resident of St. Paul’s Village for allegedly committing two offences, while three men appeared before the District ‘C’ Magistrate’s Court in Nevis and were fined a total of EC$2 800.

    A police release said that Leon Francis of Rawlins Housing Extension in St. Paul’s Village was recently arrested and charged for escaping lawful custody; an offence he allegedly committed on Friday, November 8, 2013.

    He was also charged with larceny from a dwelling house; an offence he allegedly committed on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

    And in the Magistrate’s Court on sister isle Nevis, Frank Morse of Westbury was convicted and fined EC$1 000 for a wounding offence he committed at Oualie Resort on Wednesday, August 5, 2013.

    The fine is to be paid within six months and should Morse default in payment he will have to serve six months at Her Majesty’s Prison with hard labour. 

    At the same Court, Melroy Martin of Craddock Road was convicted for the offences of threatening language and insulting language committed on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Pinney`s Beach.

    He was placed on a bond for two years to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, and come up for sentencing if and when called up to do so. 

    And Ozini Byne of Cane Garden was convicted for driving without insurance and driving without a valid or unexpired drivers' licence at Pump Road on Wednesday (Nov. 6). 

    He was fined EC $1 000 for the first offence, which is to be paid in three months or if in default will serve one month in prison with hard labour; and for the second offence he was fined EC$800, which is to be paid in one month or serve one month in prison with hard labour.
