BASSETERRE St. Kitts, November 25th, 2013 -- The St.Kitts-Nevis Amateur Basketball association will be hosting a year end prize giving and all star weekend this month from November 28th thru to 1st December. Recognition will be given to outstanding individuals and clubs for their participation over the past four seasons. An invitation is extended to all clubs to participate in this exciting weekend of basketball activities.
The weekend will feature a female 3 v 3 tournament on Thursday November 28th with the finals on Saturday November 30th and prizes will be awarded to the female players for their performance for the past 3 seasons.
On Friday the young and upcoming future of basketball will be showacased in a Junior Division ALL-Star game. The young talented players will also be recognized in a Prize Giving Ceremony for outstanding players over the last 3 seasons.
On Saturday a special Under 25 National Squad Exhibition Game will take place. Some awards will be presented on this night also. The final night of the All Star Weekend will feature the “A” Division and Premier Division ALL STAR Games. The Premier Division ALL STAR will take the form of an East vs West Showdown. Teams in the Eastern Conference are Bird Rock Uprisers, Horsfords Ghetto Roots, Hitters and Horsford’s Rootsie.
In the Western Conference the teams are the iRep Challengers Exodus, Cotton Ground Rebels, Ghaut Bucs and Fig Tree Revellers. The names of the Premier Division ALL Stars are listed below. The “A” Division ALL-STAR selections will be made slightly different as the clubs will have an opportunity to select their teams All Stars. The top tier teams of the playoffs have been afforded the opportunity to present 3 names from their teams. The remaining teams are afforded 2 and 1 selections. The night will be capped with the final Prize Giving Ceremony featuring awards for top players and teams in the Premier and “A” Divisions over the last 3 seasons.
As mentioned the “A’ Division teams will be afforded the opportunity to select their clubs ALL Star as per distribution indicated below. The SKNABA Games Committee is therefore requesting that teams confirm this invitation by sending the names of their Teams ALL STARS to the association. Or to the Games Committee via Mr Harold Wharton , Games Commissioner.
We are also excited to announce the Inagural Sugar Mas Basketball Cup which will take place over the weekend of December 6th to December 8th. The inaugural event will feature the island teams of St.Kitts and Nevis taking part in a 3 games Home and Away Series. In a toss of the coin between Wanda Parry of the Nevis Basketball Committee and Romel Tobias of the SKNABA the 3 games series will take place as follows:
• December 6th -Game 1- St.Kitts vs Nevis- Basketball City, St.Kitts 8pm
• December 7th Game 2- St.Kitts vs Nevis- Charlestown, Nevis- 8pm
• December 8th Game 3 (if necessary)- St.Kitts vs Nevis- Basketball City-8pm
The St.Kitts and Nevis team selections will be announced later this week. The winner of the series will be awarded the first ever Sugar Mas Basketball Cup. The event is intended to be an annual series between the island teams of St.Kitts and Nevis.
