Rumour of Oprah Winfrey death sends fans in panic mode

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETEERE St. Kitts – SHOCKWAVE was seen streaming through the entertainment world as rumour surfaced that talk show host and multi-billionaire Oprah Winfrey died at her home early Sunday (Dec. 1).

Just like many of her fans, thousands of bloggers were sent scampering to numerous social media such as Facebook, Twitter and even My Space to enquire if the star had indeed passed away.

A special Facebook page dedicated to the star called “RIP Oprah Winfrey” had attracted thousands of likes and soon spread globally leaving some of her co-celebrities in agitation.

Stated on the page, which has since been removed, was: “At about 11 a.m. ET on Sunday (December 01, 2013), our beloved television host Oprah Winfrey passed away. Oprah Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”

Fans began their parade of messages of condolence on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that the veteran 59-year-old television host was dead. And, as usual, Oprah’s twitter page swarmed with questions related to the hoax death.

By the end of yesterday, officials representing the talk show host wrote: “She joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. She's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”
