ROANDTOWN Tortola BVI, December 6 – A delegation representing the British Virgin Islands (BVI) Ports Authority, Ministry of Communications and Works, BVI Tourist Board and Island Shipping welcomed MSC Musica on its first call to the cruise pier in Road Town, Tortola.

The ship first came to the BVI last Friday when it anchored in Road Harbour. Today, it brought over 2,000 passengers and crew members to the Territory.

At the official inaugural ceremony on board this morning, Captain Raffaele Russo and Minister for Communications and Works exchanged plaques to commemorate the occasion.

Honourable Vanterpool welcomed the captain and his crew to the BVI on behalf of the Premier, Government and people of the Territory. The minister, who was wearing the BVI’s Territorial dress shirt, explained to Captain Russo that the images on his shirt represented the BVI’s maritime heritage, adding, “We love boats and sailing.”

General Counsel at the BVI Ports Authority Ms. Vareen Vanterpool also welcomed Musica’s captain and crew to the Territory on behalf of Managing Director Mr. Claude O. Skelton Cline.

She affirmed, “We will do all that we can to ensure we maintain good relations with [MSC Musica].”

Tomorrow, Musica returns to Santo Domingo, where it began its seven day cruise. The ship will visit the BVI every Friday until March, before heading back to Europe.

The BVI Ports Authority is responsible for the Territory’s cruise infrastructure and facilitates port calls.
