December 9th, 2013 -- Leader of the Team Unity Movement Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris along with leader of the federal opposition and Deputy Premier of the NIA, Hon. Mark Brantley and The Honourable Eugene Hamilton joined citizens in the diaspora for a fired up cocktail and rally event held in Harlem, New York last evening.
The fundraiser brought over one hundred citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis residing in New York under one roof to declare in unison their commitment to a new political dispensation in the federation.
Sherisma Liburd sang the national anthems of St. Kitts and Nevis and the US to start off the evening and Chairman, Troy Southwell who invoked God's blessings in prayer, kept the audience enlivened with his fiery energy.
A heart warming segment honoring the visionary Mr. George Washington "Washie" Archibald was also a highlight of the evening as Ms. Glennis Phoenix rendered a poem entitled "Ode To You."Feel good calypsoes were also rendered by Green T. and Lennox Liburd.
The Honourable gentlemen made brief remarks pledging their individual and collective commitment to the Team UNITY and boldly acknowledging there is currently no other feasible alternative given the state of the federation. The partners agree that their commitment is to change lives and to ensure the people of the federation experience a better quality of life.
The event climaxed with the drawing of a 50/50 raffle which saw a lucky winner walk away with half of a $163 pot. The guests mingled and enjoyed reach other's company well past midnight.
All citizens are encouraged to return to the Harlem location for the "You Speak We Listen" meeting at 4:30 PM Sunday at 350 West 115th Street, Basement Level.
