BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – KVK Enterprises along with its recently-launched ministry, Dare to Be Different International, has performed another kind deed through its recently held Bus Driver Appreciation held at the Bay Road bus terminal.
Company representatives greeted the many public bus drivers with smiles this past weekend and offered tokens of appreciation, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the island. Drivers were given free t-shirts and bumper stickers as well as a snack plate and juice and water as a reminder that they are very much appreciated.
CEO Khrystus Wallace told SKNVibes that the gesture was necessary as many persons depend on public buses for transportation but only few ever show their appreciation. He added that the bus driver appreciation is only the first step that Dare to Be Different has taken and has provided the ideal foundation for similar initiatives.
“KVK Enterprises actually launched a ministry called Dare to Be Different International and we are appreciating all public bus drivers for their work over the years. We know sometimes they work and their efforts are seldom recognized so we decided to take time out of our busy schedules to hand out T-shirts, drinks, snacks and other tokens, just to say thanks.
“We want to stress that we are a gospel ministry and so we are aiming to intertwine gospel and business and so some of our products are labelled with a short scripture to remind the drivers of the work that Jesus did. We have partnered with Ashburry’s, Island Auto Supplies, Horsford Automotives, Karibhana Trading Ltd. and without their help this would not have been possible.
“We want the bus drivers to be encouraged to continue doing what they are doing. Despite the problems they may face, we want them to know that we recognize and appreciate their hard work,” Wallace said.
One contented bus driver said, “Over the years, as we look around and read news articles, many persons in society have been recognized for their contributions and you don’t really hear bus drivers being recognized. But this is a good start! I felt so good when the young man approached me and gave me the token of his appreciation; that showed me that all hope is not lost.”
Wallace also informed that one driver said that during his 10 to15 years, he has never been appreciated, and added that “when we are able to reach out to them and make them feel appreciated, it satisfies our outreach objectives”.
Wallace further stated that the experience was fruitful and received very positive responses. He added that through partnership the company was able to dare to be different and “be a blessing to others”.
