BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE students of the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School received an early Christmas treat in the form of a party, compliments the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and the Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (RBTT).

The party was held yesterday afternoon (Dec. 11) at the school's location in De Village and was attended by several staff members of the Banks, including Area Vice President of RBC/RBTT Banks St. Kitts and Nevis Mrs. Corliss Charles-Sutton.

The children, whose ages ranged from four to 17, were treated to an afternoon of fun and games as they partied in a very special way.

They sang songs, including Christmas carols, and played games such as 'Brown girl in the ring' and 'Dropped a letter to my love'.

A number of students also took turns whacking at a piñata filled with candies. It was a delight when it burst open as they all rushed to grab the sweets.

It was obvious that the children had a wonderful time from the smiles and laughter plastered on their faces. However, the excitement was not confined to the children, as it was clear that the Banks' staff and teachers at the school enjoyed themselves as well.

Their fun only got better when the ringing of a bell signalled the entrance of Santa Claus who brought big bags of goodies.

He entertained the children for quite some time by dancing and posing for photos with them, and even some adults took the opportunity to have their photos taken with Santa.

He also took part in some of the games that were played.

Refreshments were also provided for the children, after which they were each presented gifts.

Speaking with Charles-Sutton, she told this publication that it was the second Christmas Party the Banks had hosted for the children at the school, adding that the intention is to make it an annual event.

She said it is but a part of the Banks' community initiative.

"This is the second Christmas Party that RBC/RBTT has hosted for the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School. One of our corporate values is to give back to the community, and we see this initiative as one of the ways in which we could do so, by providing support to our Special Education Unit by bringing good cheer to them."

She said that the Banks realised the need for aid in the Special Education Unit and they decided to provide it.

"The Special Education Unit is one of the areas that need assistance and we have decided to focus on this."
