Second daylight shooting rocks Cayon community

By: Loshaun Dixon, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LESS than 24 hours after a young man was shot in broad daylight in Cayon, another individual, this time a female from the same area, is currently nursing a gunshot wound at the Joseph N France General Hospital.

The female’s name was given as Mutrice Williams of Cunningham Village, Lower Cayon and she is said to have been an innocent victim.

Information reaching this publication states that the incident took place shortly after 10:00 this morning (Dec. 13) in Cunningham Village while Mutrice was in conversation with a male, who was seemingly the target of the attack, when the assailant(s) opened fire and she was struck in the hand.

The suspected target however escaped unscathed.

She was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is currently being treated for her wound.

On arrival at the scene, SKNVibes observed members of Police and Defence Forces conducting investigations.

One resident of the area remembered hearing gunshots being fired and thought it was the children in the neighbourhood playing with explosives.

This incident is the second daylight shooting in as many days to rock the Cayon community.

The first one occurred yesterday with the shooting of Akil Anthony, also a resident of Cunningham Village, who was at the time tending his father’s lawn at Cabbage Tree Housing Project.
