BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - COMMISSIONER OF POLICE Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn is urging residents of the Cayon to collaborate with the police in order to curb gun crimes in their community.
The call came one day after Akil Anthony of Cunningham Village, Cayon was wounded by unknown assailants at Cabbage Tree Housing Project in Cayon.
A police press statement stated, “Commissioner Walwyn is asking the Cayon Community to partner with the police in helping to reduce gun crimes in their community."
He further called on residents of that area to report where the guns are hidden before more innocent victims are harmed.
“Please report where these guns are hidden before more of our children or innocent bystanders are hurt. Our sons are shooting each other; we need to intervene as a community, and help bring an end to this inter-community violence."
The release also indicated that the the Violent Crime Unit (VCU) is investigating the shooting of Anthony and revealed that he was attacked by two armed assailants
The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit and evidentiary items were recovered.
The released also called on anyone with information regarding this incident to provide the police with details, and this could be done anonymously.
“Anyone having information pertaining to this incident is asked to please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS). Remember you do not have to give your personal information and you may be eligible to receive a reward.”
