Soca Monarch contenders prepare for ultimate battle

Yanos Bagnol in action at Buddies
By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE St. Kitts – THE clash for ultimate supremacy continued on Thursday night (Dec 12) at Buddies on the Frigate Bay Strip, where five of the 30 artiste for Soca Monarch 2013 performed their smash singles for the crowd during the Red Hawaiian Devils launch.

SKNVibes Entertainment observed that since this publication had spoken about the artiste’s image and performance onstage there has been a big improvement, so much so that they must be commended for their efforts thus far.

The contestants for the 2013 title have been performing at a number of events hosted by the Carnival committee since the launch just weeks ago.

Based on Thursday evening’s performances, this media house has envisaged that last night’s action behind the Old Treasury Building would have been a ‘Texas Showdown’ for the final spots in the grand finale.

Although SKNVibes strongly believe that anything could have happened last night, two out of the five performers were so excellent in the execution of their performances that they were called for an encore presentation.

If you are guessing that the very talented Mr. Hype is one of the two, then you are correct. You got to admit; the guy is smart with his approach and has since developed quite a fan base in the Federation.

With his smash single ‘Wuk it’, this truly energetic performer displayed full command of the crowd and, yes, he still encourages everyone to ‘wuk’ something even if it is your brother’s girlfriend.

But, the night took a different spin after the young talent of Janos Bagnol took the stage with his group of dancers and taught everyone in the crowd to ‘run and wuk up’.

He also displayed not only full control of the crowd but his actual stage performance was second to none.

Promising his supporters that Thursday night’s performance was just the sneak preview of what he has planned for last night, Janos, just like Mr. Hype, was called back onstage to perform the new dance craze for a second time.

To be honest, patrons might see a real showdown between the two in the Finals, but, as earlier mentioned, anything could have happened last night.

Because of technical difficulties, this article could not have been published prior to last night’s Semi-Finals of both the Power and Groovy segments of the Soca Monarch Competition. However, the results of last night’s very exciting and highly competitive performances will soon be up on this website.
