BASSETERRE St. Kitts – SO far in the battle for the Sugar Mas’ 42 Soca Monarch title, SKNVibes Entertainment has noticed two performers from sister isles Nevis who displayed ‘A1’ performances.

The night of the Semi-Finals (Dec. 13), of course, saw a total of 30 artistes; some of whom competed in both the Groovy and Power segments which realised over 40 performances.

But two of these entertainers on Friday night produced not only a noticeable crowd favourite performance, but also the displaying of true culture combined with the Carnival beat.

While he was being called up onstage, a very impressive ‘Delly Ranks’ arrived dressed as a Moca Jumbie and even did a few acrobatic tricks during the performance of his single entitled ‘Love We Festival’.

Flanked by his group of stunning dancers, Ranks reminded those in the audience of the importance of keeping Carnival alive during the season.

But it was the screaming crowd that concluded this artiste performance before he left the stage; leading him to be the highest scored in the Groovy segment.

Another artiste also hailing from that island was the famous ‘Ali Dee’ who, just like her fellow Nevisian, showcased the full effects of Carnival.

With her chic, but modest ocean blue costume and donning a traditional carnival-feathered headdress, Ali Dee was the only female competitor dressed as if she were already in the Finals.

From the confidence she exuded onstage to her back-up dancers and the entire performance of ‘Jammin Away’, this vocally-strong artiste was the recipient of loud shouts and praises from the large number of people in attendance.

One member of last Friday’s audience asked the question: “Why is it that Nevis has not been participating much in the Carnival list of activities such as the National Carnival Queen Pageant, which comprises an all-St. Kittitian line-up?”

If readership has the answer to that patron’s question, SKNVibes Entertainment would like to hear it.
