BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - JAMAICAN songstress, 28-year-old Tessanne Chin gave a show-stopping performance when she belted out ‘I Have Nothing’; a popular classic by the late Whitney Houston.
Tonight (Dec. 17) is the biggest night of The Voice Season Five since the winner will be announced live on television Channel NBC following last’s night finale competition.
The fate of the top three aspiring artistes, including Tessanne Chin of course, rests in the hands of voters in the US and those in other territories eligible to vote.
Tessanne Chin, a former back-up singer for the living Jamaican Reggae icon Jimmy Cliff, made her debut performance at the annual St. Kitts Music Festival in 2007.
Her popular songs include 'Hide Away', 'Broken Melody', 'Messenger' and 'Never Let Me Go' featuring popular Jamaican Reggae and Dancehall artiste Shaggy.
Tessanne Chin has credited Shaggy for encouraging her to compete in The Voice.
Should she win, Tessanne Chin will land a recording contract and the grand prize of $100 000 cash.
Information found on NBC.com highlighted her dream that The Voice will give her international recognition.
“Growing up on the island of Jamaica with musical parents, Tessanne knew she always wanted to be a musician. For three years, she sang backup for reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, but eventually broke out as a solo artist in Jamaica. Tessanne has not been able to make any waves in the U.S., but she's hoping that The Voice will take her global.”
