BASSETERRE St. Kitts – THE eyes of the Federation will now be on eight of the top remarkable calypso artistes who sang their way into the Finals of this year’s ‘Kaiso’ Monarch Competition.
Kicking off to an unexpected early start last Sunday (Dec. 14), the event which was held at the Sugar Mas’ 42 V illage saw a slow turnout of patrons, who eventually filled the venue as the night progressed.
The inclement weather did stop the calypso lovers, who from time to time had to run for cover from the rain which also resulted in pauses to the competition due to the safety of equipment onstage.
Taking centre stage for the second episode of the elimination rounds of the competition were the 16 Semi-Finalist who had to perform two times, but a second approach proved to be a push for some of the artistes who advanced.
Although there were failures for the night, there were also performers who did exceptionally well and deserved to be in the top spots.
Like the first nights of eliminations, the artiste were judged on Lyrics (40 points), Music (30 points and Performance (30 points) giving you a total of 100 points.
Based on the judging criteria set, SKNVibes Entertainment’s best performer of the night was none other than ‘Lord Kut’, who displayed yet again pure entertainment.
The eight finalists in order of their rankings are Singing Jackie with 626 points, Astro (625), King Socrates (613), Ritchie Buntin (597), Rudder (594), Lady Diva (592), Allamoullo (577) and Lord Kut also with 577 points.
