CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - POPULAR Rhythmz Dance Theatre members today donated a cheque for EC$4 000 to award winning teacher Maureen Adams as a contribution towards her medical bills.

Adams, who has made a major contribution towards education in the Federation and the region, is recovering from a neurological condition. She has been on sick leave since January 2008.

During the presentation ceremony held at Adams’ Ramsbury residence, choreographer of the group Dianne Hobson said members were eager and proud to stage a performance in December, 2008 through which they raised the funds.

Present at the ceremony were Area Representative and Minister for Agriculture, Robelto Hector and Health Advisor Patricia Henley. The minister thanked the theatre group for its excellent performance and Hobson for taking time to guide the young members at a time when youths are faced with many challenges.

Hobson is the Nevis Artistic Cultural Development Manager.

Minister Hector said Adams has played a major role in teaching students at Charlestown Secondary School, and he wished her a speedy recovery.

Hanley, who represented the Minister of Health, the Hon. Hensley Daniel, said the dance production was very well done and such activities would go a long way in keeping youths out of trouble.

Adams thanked the group and said the donation was timely.
