Has Patches been replaced in Team Unity?

Ian ’Patches’ Liburd
By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – RUMOURED dissension within the Unity Movement has been counted as untrue with one of its candidates denying that another was replaced as the representative for one of the constituencies.

SKNVibes caught wind of a rumour which suggested that Ian ‘Patches’ Liburd has been removed from the Unity ticket as the Constituency Number One representative and would be replaced with a particular woman of that movement.

This publication spoke with the Hon. Eugene Hamilton – a member of the Unity Movement and Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Number Eight – who indicated that as far as he is aware the slate of candidates who were revealed to the public has not changed.

“As we speak, the Team Unity as originally launched is still in place. There isn’t anything that I am aware that will cause any disintegration of Team Unity and as it is constructed. So I will attribute whatever you are hearing to being just rumours. And I am not surprised that people will continue to spread rumours in order to try and undermine Team Unity.”

    SKNVibes also contacted Liburd.

When asked if the rumours are true, Liburd declared that he would not react to any rumour because there are more serious issues facing the Federation which need to be addressed.

“I am not going to react to any rumours. We have more important things to address in St. Kitts. In St. Kitts we are in a state of crisis. We have a government that is illegitimate, we have a Speaker who is colluding with the Prime Minister and frustrating the rights of elected members, we have an issue with corruption, there is the issue of a diplomatic passport being sold for $1 million… those are the issues which I would address.”
