ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, December 24 – A night of dancing and laughter was made even better when staff of the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) received tokens of appreciation at the annual Christmas Party.

This year's party, also themed "Appreciation Celebration", was held at the Moorings Mariner Inn. Over 120 staff and guests joined in the night's festivities.

Managing Director of the BVIPA Mr. Claude O. Skelton Cline said that aside from recognising Christmas, the event was meant to affirm employees' value to the organisation.

Mr. Skelton Cline said, “It was good to witness everyone celebrating with Christmas cheer, but it was even more fulfilling to see employees being recognised for their hard work and commitment to the Authority.”

Several prizes were awarded, including a cash prize to Dock Attendant Mr. Milton Hodge for consistently coming in to work on time. Many employees were treated to giveaways including a trip to San Juan and St. Thomas, and vouchers for well-being treatments, dinners and lunches at some of the BVI's top establishments. Some employees also received prizes for answering various history trivia about the BVIPA.

According to Human Resources Manager Ms. Sophia Cupid, one of the highlights of the evening was a couples, dance competition where married couples were asked to participate in a dance off for a couples massage at one of the leading spas on island.

Ms. Cupid was the lead organiser for the event, which she hopes will be even better next year.

The BVI Ports Authority is charged with facilitating the safe, efficient and effective operation of the related cargoes and passengers transiting the BVI's seaports.
