Police hunt man who escaped from Basseterre Station

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MEMBERS of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force are on the hunt for a man who committed battery on three police officers before escaping from the Basseterre Police Station.

     

    According to a police press release, the fugitive is 28-year-old Ian Pemberton whose last address was given as Carty Alley, Newtown. 
     
    He is brown in complexion, weighs approximately 167 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and is five feet seven inches tall.
     
    The release states that a warrant of arrest is in existence for Pemberton for the offences of battery on police, threatening language and escaping lawful custody committed on Sunday, December 15, 2013.
     
    “Anyone who harbours or helps him in any way to evade the police commits an offence and will be arrested and charged. Anyone with any information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Basseterre Police Station at 465-2241 or the nearest police station, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477. Remember your information will be treated with confidence and you may be eligible to receive a reward,” the release states.
     
    Information reaching this publication states that Pemberton had allegedly committed battery on two Sergeants and a Constable before making good his escape.
     
    It also states that one of those beaten is a female, who suffered injury to her hand and is currently on sick leave.
