Another award for top CXC achiever

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 2ND 2009 (CUOPM) – Another award for Ms. Xavienne-Roma Richardson.
     
    Two weeks after accepting an award at the LIME/St. Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce 22nd Academic Excellence Award Ceremony, the Kittitian lass will receive

     

     

    the United States Embassy/CXC National Award on Tuesday.
     
    Ms. Richardson, who gained 9 passes at Grade One, and one at Grade 2 in last year’s CXC examinations, will be presented with a US$500 cheque and a plaque during a
    presentation at the Basseterre High School at 1:00 p.m.
     
    In a bid to encourage and honour excellence in education, the Barbados-based Embassy announced Friday it has joined forces with the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) to
    reward students with the most outstanding CXC results in St. Kitts and Nevis and the other six Eastern Caribbean islands to which the Embassy is accredited.
     
    Several months ago the Embassy and the Caribbean Examinations Council discussed how best they could encourage and honor excellence in education.
     
    The Embassy and CXC eventually came up with the U.S. Embassy CXC National Awards for Outstanding Performance.  The top CXC students in Antigua/Barbuda, Barbados,
    Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent, will all be rewarded with $500 USD and a plaque marking achievement.
