Team Unity Visits Embassies And Officials In Aftermath Of Fires

    Basseterre, St.Kitts (Monday Jan 6th 2013):- Team UNITY Leader Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris along with other members of Team UNITY including, Hon. Sam Condor, Senator Hon. Vincent Byron Jr,  Candidate for Constituency #1 Ian “Patches” Liburd and Sydney Osborne visited officials of the Embassies of Venezuela and the OAS Secretariat Office located in Basseterre, St.Kitts on Sunday morning. The Venezuelan Embassy building at Fortlands was totally destroyed during the early hours of Sunday morning and according to Acting   Fire Chief Everette O’ Garro the cause of that fire is yet unknown.

    Another fire did minor damage to the OAS Local office and the Ag Fire Chief suspects arson in this case.

    Director of the OAS Secretariat, Starret Greene gave Dr Harris and other members of his delegation a tour of the building and the damages caused by the fire.

    Dr. Harris expressed on behalf of Team UNITY his gross condemnation of the act and pledged his Team UNITY’s full and unreserved support to the OAS Secretariat and Director Starett Greene .

    In their second visit which led them to the Embassy of Venezuela and later to the Venezuelan institute,  Dr Harris and his delegation held talks with the Venezuelan Ambassador and his staff. The delegation met with Ambassador Romulo Enriqez and expressed thanks to god for the safety and well being of the Ambassador and his staff. Dr. Harris expressed the sadness at such a loss. 

    Dr. Harris said “Team UNITY is fully appreciative of the long and historic relations between Venezuela and St.Kitts and Nevis. This relationship has borne many benefits for the people of St.Kitts and Nevis across many areas of endevours such as education, energy, agriculture, training and international diplomacy. We in St.Kitts and Nevis therefore cherish your presence here in St.KITTS AND Nevis your work and your contribution. We regret this tragedy.”
