BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FIRE fighters from the Basseterre Division of the Federation’s Fire and Rescue Services this morning (Jan. 10) prevented what could have been a national disaster in the capital city of St. Kitts.
Shortly after 6:00 a.m. plumes of thick white smoke were seen billowing in the air above some buildings at the corner of Cayon Street and Wellington Road.
On arrival at the scene, SKNVibes observed the building that houses Party Expert Food Center was engulfed in flames and firemen were desperately fighting to extinguish the flames, as well as to restrict the fire from spreading to neighbouring buildings separated by mere feet.
The professionals were successful in their quest and were showered with praises from the crowd of onlookers including some residents who abandoned their homes for fear of the fire.
This publication learned that the building is owned by former Leader of the People’s Action Movement, Lindsay Grant who was also at the scene.
