BASSETERRE St. Kitts, January 17th, 2014 -- On Friday January 10th and Monday January 13th there were two island wide blackouts.
After extensive analyses of all data collected SKELEC engineers have concluded that both blackouts were caused by faults on the grid and external to the power station. The efforts to rectify these faults have been redoubled.
Our staff has been working hard at making sure that the incidence of failure is significantly reduced and that we return to our recent record of reliable electricity. We would like to assure all our customers and the public alike that we will continue to work at improving our reliability and service that we offer.
We apologise for the inconvenience these outages would have undoubted caused on the island.
