BASSETERRE St. January 17th, 2014 -- On behalf of the Executive and members of the People’s Action Movement as well as my own behalf I offer deepest condolences to the Hudson-Phillips family and the people of Trinidad and Tobago on the passing of former Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago Mr. Karl Terrence Hudson-Phillips.
Mr. Hudson-Phillips, was a Queens Counsel of over 40 years standing and a former judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC), and a recipient of the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr. Hudson-Phillips a world class leader in the legal profession. A long-time friend of the Peoples Action Movement Hudson-Phillips was the featured speaker at our 22nd Annual Convention on February 22nd 1987. He also delivered the First Dr. William V. Herbert memorial lecture in St.Kitts on 20th June 2001.
He was best known and admired for his powerful legal personality and his formidable advocacy for peace and justice. He was an inspiration to the legal profession.Trinidad & Tobago, the Caribbean and the Commonwealth have lost a true patriot and a legal stalwart.
We in the Peoples Action Movement have lost a friend and an advocate for justice and democracy.
May his soul rest in peace.
