BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ONLY two weeks after he was given a “break” at the High Court of Justice,  a young man may have found himself, yet again, on the wrong side of the law.

Reports coming from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force are that Trevis Henville of Newtown was found carrying a firearm.

The police have informed that the young man was searched during a routine stop and search operation conducted by the security forces when the incident occurred.

The police further informed that the operation took place at 1:00 yesterday morning (Feb. 4).  They say Henville was found with a 9mm pistol and eight rounds of ammunition.

The firearm and ammunition were taken into police custody and Henville was arrested.

“He is expected to be charged shortly”, a press release issued by the police informs.

Only two weeks ago Henville stood before resident High Court Judge, His Lordship Justice Francis Belle, having pleaded guilty to a charge of “robbery”.

He and his brother, Esrette, were jointly charged and while he pleaded “guilty”, his brother took his chances with the jury and was convicted. Esrette was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.

Trevis, however, was sentenced to three years imprisonment but as His Lordship explained, the sentence is “suspended”.

The conditions of the sentence are, if within the next three years Trevis is convicted of an offence which is punishable by in excess of six months, the sentence imposed by the High Court would take effect.

If charged with the gun-related offences, Trevis is expected to appear before the court.

The firearm represents to seventh to have been removed from the streets of the Federation for the year.
