BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ST. PETERS seems to be making a name for itself in the illegal production of alcohol, as law enforcement officers found and destroyed four illicit distilleries and a large quantity of their produce.

A police press release informs that on February 3, police conducted search operations in the Bayford’s area and found two distilleries at Ogee’s Ghaut. The release further informed that they also found 10 gallons of distilled Hammond.

On the same day, the police conducted parallel operations in another part of St. Peters, located north of the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport, where two other distilleries were discovered along with two drums of molasses.

According to the release, all four stills along with the Hammond and molasses were destroyed.  In times past, the police have had to destroy other such apparatuses in the St. Peters area.

Meanwhile, police have yet to figure out who is responsible for a drug find in the Needsmust area. The release stated that 11 482 marijuana plants were discovered growing on “a number of plots close to the Taiwanese Agricultural Project”.

The marijuana plants were uprooted and later burned.

Persons having information relative to this find are asked to contact the police at 465-2241.
