BASSETERRE 23rd January, 2014  --  2014 promises to be a very eventful and hectic year for the St Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee with three (3) major international events on its competitive calendar, namely: the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland; the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China; and the Central American and Caribbean Games to be held in Vera Cruz, Mexico.

In preparation for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Mr Leroy Greene, the St Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee’s Chef de Mission for the 2014 Commonwealth Games will attend a two (2) day briefing in Glasgow, Scotland, on January 28th to 31st, 2014 on the preparatory plans for the July 23rd to August 3rd, 2014, event in that city.

All Member Federation whose sports are on the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games schedule of events are eligible to field athletes for participation in that event.

All indications are that the Local Organising Committees for the Commonwealth Games, the Youth Olympic Games and the Central American and Caribbean Games are all ready to stage outstanding events.

In other SKNOC news, President Alphonso Bridgewater and his Secretary General, Mr Glenville Jeffers left for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, earlier this week, to represent the SKNOC at the Extra Ordinary General Assembly of the Commonwealth Games Federation.

In Malaysia, the representatives are expected to address and make decisions on a variety of matters related to governance issues within the Commonwealth Games Federation.

Additionally, Mr David Sutton departed the Federation on Sunday 19th January, 2014, for Mexico, where he will join other participants on a high-level course in basketball from January 20th to 25th.

Participants will be engaged in theory and practical exercises and at the end of the course, if successful, they will receive a certificate that is recognized by the Pan American Sports Organisation (PASO).
