“We always try to give advanced notice as the Chairman has done already and we continue to do so. Having done that we will prepare accordingly; so I think we would be very much prepared.”
She noted that the Chief Medical Officer has already made it public for persons to be on alert for the viral illness.
“The CMO has already gone public with the warnings. Once that happens, then you know that the internal system is working towards just in case and they will be able to handle the cases.”
The mosquito borne viral is carried mainly by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito and causes a dengue-like sickness.
The disease was first discovered on the French side of St. Maarten and has since spread to several other islands around the region.
