Semi-automatic pistol, ammo found in Spooners Village

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MEMBERS of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force are currently investigating the find of a firearm and ammunition on the premises of a resident in Spooners Village, Cayon.

This publication learnt that the firearm was discovered by the resident while conducting a yard-cleaning exercise early yesterday morning (Jan. 25) and the matter was reported to the Cayon Police Station.

In an effort to garner facts on the find, SKNVibes yesterday contacted the Officer-in-Charge of Cayon Police Station, Sergeant Carl Greaux, who was tight lipped in providing detailed information but did confirm that “a firearm and a quantity of ammunition were found in Spooners Village”.

He noted that the find indicated that another firearm is off the streets of the Federation and it would not have been possible without the increased cooperation of residents in the Cayon community.

“On behalf of the Commissioner and ranks of the Police Force, I would like to thank all those law-abiding citizens of Cayon for cooperating with the police and for their commitment to the fight against crime, thus making the community a safer place not only for residents but also for visitors to the area,” Greaux said.

This morning (Jan. 26), however, SKNVibes contacted the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lyndon David, who also confirmed the find and stated that the discovery was made at approximately 6:35 a.m.

He, too, extended his gratitude to the law-abiding citizens of Cayon and noted that the firearm was identified as a semi-automatic pistol with a number of matching rounds of ammunition.

"Our officers are vigorously investigating this matter," Inspector David said.
