KITTS, AUGUST 11TH 2005 - St. Kitts is in for some heavy publicity when the island is promoted to millions of viewers on Britains Channel Four TV later this month.
A team of 27 persons, including a five-person camera crew and two producers from Channel Four, will arrive at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport on Saturday aboard EXCELs weekly London-Gatwick to St. Kitts flight.
The top presenters, Stephen Jones and Miquita Oliver, will be accompanied by the finalists in the Me 4 T4 presenter search competition, in which viewers were asked to send in a tape of themselves presenting. After over 1500 entries, a shortlist of 30 was drawn up for the regional finals taking place across Britain.
The Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister has learned that a heavy programme has been organised for the Channel Four crew, which will ensure that all of their activities on St. Kitts are filmed. A helicopter has also been hired for a few hours to record fantastic aerial scenes of the island.

Channel Four group. | Activities include a catamaran cruise, singing by a local Gospel Group, a cricket match between St. Kitts and Antigua in the Leewards Islands Tournament at the Sandy Point Recreation Ground, in which veteran cricketer, Keith Arthurton, will provide the commentary; golfing at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Course, horseback riding, a love scene at Rawlins Plantation, scenes at the Royal St. Kitts Marriott, Mr. X Beach Bar at Frigate Bay, and with veteran Calypsonian King Star Shield.
St. Kitts ace international footballer, Keith Kayamba Gumbs will also be interviewed.
Channel Four will also film reenactments of a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean at St. Kitts Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, which is a UNESCO Heritage Site and a James Bond movie at Cockleshell Bay.
The visiting presenters will also get the opportunity to conduct a hiking tour and present the news and weather on ZIZ Television.
