BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CELVIN ‘CG’ WALWYN has refuted rumours that he has been given a two-year-extension on his contract to serve in his current capacity as Commissioner of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

It was being bandied that Commissioner Walwyn - whose three-year contract will reportedly expire in August 2014 - was granted an extension of the said contract.

Rumours are also rife that the Commissioner has made an attempt to tender his resignation but it has not been accepted.

Approached by SKNVibes concerning the matter, the Commissioner said he is unaware of where that rumour originated and declared such matters have not yet been discussed.

“My contract still has a lot of time on it...we haven’t negotiated yet. I have almost a year left! There is nothing about me going anywhere. I hadn’t resigned, I have not asked for an extension...because I have almost a year left on my contract and that’s just a rumour.”

Commissioner Walwyn took up position as Commissioner of the Police Force on September 1, 2011, after the Baton of Authority was passed to him from former Commissioner Austin Williams.

And since taking command, a number of noticeable changes have taken place in the administration of the police force and the level of crime within the Federation. These include the creation of a Special Victims Unit, the reduction in crime and violence and increased training for members of the institution.
