Monday, February 9 – Government will host two Records Management Workshops aimed at assisting departments with closing, appraising and transferring files to the archives.

The two-hour workshops, which are specifically geared towards records officers across the public service, will prepare them for appraising files in their respective offices for over five years.

The workshops will be held on February 23 at the Public Service Training Centre on the third floor of the Ward Building.  The first session will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon and the second session will be held from 2:00– 4:00 p.m.

Government Archivist Mr. Christopher Varlack is encouraging records officers interested in the workshop to register early for one session only, by telephoning the Archives and Records Management Unit at 468-3701 ext. 3044.

The Archives and Records Management Programme was established in April, 2004 in the Deputy Governor’s Office. Its objective is to encourage proper records management in Government and to develop a comprehensive archives and records management programme.
