BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CHRISTOPHE Harbour Development Project has been putting the necessary infrastructure and amenities in place as it intends to stay on track with development goals for 2009.

The company has started much work on the first Sandy Bank Bay neighbourhood which is expected to include 90 private properties along with bungalows and beach huts. The housing lots offer spectacular views across the marina and over to sister isle Nevis.

During an on-site media briefing on February 9, Chief Operations Officer LeGrand Elebash said he is very pleased with the progress that is being made in the Sandy Bank area as the company wishes to fulfil all development objectives as planned. He indicated that a number of other changes and improvement of the area would be seen as the neighbourhood gets closer to completion.

“We are very fortunate that this project has gained very positive media attention around the world. We have gotten very positive responses from our marketing efforts and we continue to sell property here. We are surrounded by about 90 plots and of those, we have contracts for the sale of 38 of them at present. There are new prospects walking in to us every day and each prospect comes with very favourable impressions of St. Kitts and of Christophe Harbour. So our sales progress is excellent despite the economic turmoil.

“Just off the highway, we have created an improved gravel parking area with signage and boulders to mark off the area where people are invited to park and enjoy the beach. We provided trash receptacles which we will be surfacing so that we can continue the efforts to keep the beaches here clean. We also have an improved pedestrian walkway to get down to the beach.

“All of the beaches on Christophe Harbour would be public access as is the case all over St. Kitts, and in all cases we will provide parking areas, trash receptacles serviced by our company and safe pedestrian access.”

Elebash informed that the company has also been working in conjunction with the Public Works Department to patch potholes in the roads adding that within a few months the neighbourhood should have its complete network of roads and walkways.
