CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE winners of the Independence celebrations Essay Competition in Nevis received their prizes today (Feb. 9), courtesy of sponsors – Hamoron Services.
Serena Clarke and Trish Taylor, both students of Charlestown Secondary School, finished first and second respectively and where presented with their winnings by Ron Daniel, Chief Executive Officer of Hamoron’s Services.
Clarke collected a trophy and digital camera while Taylor took home a trophy, a leather portfolio and a two-gigabyte memory stick. Third place went to J’vani Liburd of Gingerland Secondary.
The presentation took place at the school’s auditorium and Daniel reminded the students how privileged they were to be receiving free education in the region. He said his company is honoured to sponsor such event which encompassed primary and secondary schools on Nevis.
The essay was organised as part of the Federation’s 25th Independence Anniversary.
The topic was premised on: “Imagine that your friend in another country wants to visit you for your country’s 25th Anniversary; write an essay to convince him/her of the pride you take in the growth and development of your country and why he or she should visit at this time.”
