Basseterre, St. Kitts (August 15, 2005):
Tiran Hanley, a midfielder from the Washington Archibald High School, left the Federation on the weekend to join nationals contesting the Caribbean Cup Tournament of Soccer.
Kaiyan Benjamin, Thrizen Leader, Jevon Francis, Allister Poodle Warner, and Toussaint Riley are already in New York participating in the annual competition, which features teams from various Caribbean territories. Teams from Costa Rica and Nigeria have also participated in this event in the past.

Reports reaching SKNIS indicate that team St. Kitts is performing well and has booked a spot in the quarterfinals.

Hanley, 17, was voted most valuable player (MVP) in the 2004 St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) second division championships and led his school to the national title.

This experience and talent has led to his invitation to join the team.

The opportunity was extended by the St. Kitts Graduates Soccer Club of New York, which according to vice president Larry John, concentrates on the development of soccer players in the Federation. John indicated that the inclusion of young players in this competition provides an opportunity for them to be scouted by United States-based colleges and universities.

This is a good opportunity for me, Tiran Hanley told SKNIS. Playing (football) is the most important thing to me and now Ill have a better chance to see how teams from other islands play.

The 17-year-old national under 20 footballer added that he was anxious to boost his knowledge about the game and the rules of the sport. This, he hopes, will help him to become a better player and enhance his chances of playing professionally.

Ties and jackets are not really for me, I want to be in a football uniform, he stressed when asked about career choices. I want to be a professional footballer and put St. Kitts on top.
