BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN the third of his bimonthly messages to nationals living in the Diaspora, Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas has encouraged them to remain invested in the interests of the Federation.

The message can be viewed on popular Internet website YouTube or on the Prime Minister’s own website, www.cuopm.com.

Dr. Douglas noted that shortly after entering office in 1995, his government realised that many nationals abroad often thought about returning home but found the prospect too overwhelming. To address this problem, the Returning Nationals Secretariat was established with a mandate to provide advice and assistance to nationals who wished to return home.

The office can be reached through the government switchboard or directly at 467-1378.

Additionally, Dr. Douglas expressed hope that nationals residing in foreign countries would see the Federation’s embassies, consulates and tourism offices as their physical link to St. Kitts and Nevis. He stressed the importance of being aware of and understanding the services provided by these facilities.

“Many of you have ideas that could strengthen the cultural, economic or other linkages between the city or country in which you live and the Federation. Our embassies, consulates and tourism officers are your links to home. They are your conduits to your government. Do take the time to visit these offices. Be sure to establish a relationship. This is one of the best ways for you to remain involved.

“Wherever you live we know that St. Kitts and Nevis will always be a part of you. However, at the same time, we know that only you can decide where you should live at any moment in time,” Dr. Douglas said.
