BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A young sprinter from Nevis will be heading off to train with the likes of Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake in Jamaica at the Racers Track Club.

Bolt - who is the Olympic champion in the 100m and 200m - and Blake - who is a former World Champion in the 100m - train at the club under coach Glen Mills.

Royston Queeley of Cotton Ground, Nevis will depart the Federation on Monday (Feb 24) where he will be based for the remainder of the 2014 track and field season.

Queeley had a two-month stint with the Racers Club in 2013 and explained to SKNVibes Sports how the arrangement came to fruition.

“This would be my second time going. I was there last year. My coach Timothy Caines reached out to Racers and they asked for the times that I have run before and they gave me the okay to come and they told me to come. I went for two months. ”

He added that Racers were requesting that he returned in October but due to circumstances, he was delayed.

“They recommend that I come back in October (2013) but because of certain circumstances I could not go but I decided to go on Monday coming and I will be there for the rest of the season.”

Queeley also spoke of the benefits he thinks he can gain by training with such an elite group and what he learnt during his past stint.

“The experience will be good; going out there will be giving me more exposure and give me a different type of training. The experience was good I went out there to try and gain as much knowledge. It improved me in terms of confidence and it motivated me.”

He also explained what are some of his goals for the 2014 track and field season.

“My main events are the 200m and 400m but I don't think I will be doing the 200m and 100m this year because of certain circumstance. My main goal for 2014 is to do my best and hopefully qualify for the Commonwealth Games.

Queelry’s claim to fame was the multiple medals he won during the TDC Inter-school Championships during his time at the Charlestown Secondary.
